Why is my AC running, but the air coming out of the vents is warm?

If the outdoor compressor is running and the indoor fan is blowing, but the air is warm, the system has either lost its refrigerant charge due to a leak, or the compressor's internal valves have failed and it is no longer pumping vapor. Alternatively, a completely frozen evaporator coil will block heat transfer, resulting in warm air flow.

Is it normal for my air conditioner to need a pound of Freon every year?

Absolutely not. An air conditioning system is a closed loop. Refrigerant is not consumed like gasoline in a car. If you require a "top-off" every year, you have a physical leak in the copper tubing, the evaporator coil, or the Schrader valves. Continually adding refrigerant is environmentally damaging and wastes money; the leak should be found using a negative corona detector or UV dye and permanently repaired.

Why is there water pooling around the bottom of my indoor furnace?

Water pooling around the base of your indoor unit is a clear indication that the primary condensate drain line is clogged with biological slime, dust, or algae.
