When the ice bin runs dry, the bar, the soda station and the salad line all feel it. We repair, clean and descale commercial ice machines for restaurants, bars, breweries, coffee shops, convenience stores, schools and care facilities in Boise, Meridian, Eagle, Nampa, Caldwell and Kuna. Ice machines are part of our broader commercial refrigeration repair work, so the same tech can look at your walk-in or reach-ins on the same visit.
Most ice machine calls fall into a handful of patterns. Knowing which one you have helps us show up with the right parts.
The plate freezes but ice never drops, or the machine sits in freeze until it trips. Common culprits are scale on the evaporator, a harvest valve or harvest assist failure, or a bad thickness or water level sensor.
The bin never fills by the dinner rush. Dirty condenser coils, a hot install location, restricted water flow, scale and low refrigerant charge all slow the freeze cycle.
Poor cube quality usually traces back to water: high mineral content, an overdue filter, low inlet pressure or a scaled distribution tube. Sometimes it is a refrigeration problem, and we check both.
Pink or black slime in the bin, chute or water trough, and white crust on the evaporator. This is a sanitation problem first, and it also causes harvest and sensor failures.
Water on the floor from a clogged drain line, a backed-up bin drain, a cracked trough or a water inlet valve that will not close.
Tripped safeties, high-pressure cutouts on a choked condenser, bin control faults and control board errors. We read the fault history before we start swapping parts.
Much of the water across Boise, Meridian and Nampa carries enough calcium and magnesium to coat an evaporator plate with scale in a matter of months. Scale insulates the plate, so each freeze cycle takes longer, production drops, and eventually the ice will not release during harvest. A lot of "broken" ice machines are really just badly scaled ones.
The fix is a combination of regular descaling and good water filtration. We can install or replace filter systems with scale inhibitor, size them for your machine's production, and set a change schedule that fits how much ice you actually make.
Hot summer kitchens add a second problem: air-cooled machines tucked next to fryers or in a back-of-house corner with no airflow run high head pressures, lose capacity and trip on safeties. Cleaning the condenser and fixing the airflow often restores production without major parts.
Health inspectors treat ice as a food product. Visible slime in the bin or chute, a scoop stored in the ice, a drain line without a proper air gap, or water pooling under the machine can all end up on an inspection report. Regular cleaning and sanitizing keeps those findings off the list, and we leave you a record of what was done and when.
If an inspection has already flagged your ice machine, call us with the finding. We will tell you what it takes to correct it and get the machine back into a clean, documented state.
We work on cuber, nugget and flake machines from most commercial manufacturers. Ice machine brands we commonly service in Treasure Valley kitchens include:

"The technician Chris was really great to work with. Their prices are extremely competitive. Worth having them checkout any issues you may be having. Not to mention they're very honest. Thanks guys."
"We had great timing with Jason as he was just coming in to promote the business and we were having an issue with the kitchen's flat top and he stepped in and got us up and running in no time!!! And he showed us what we were missing to get everything fired up properly. Wonderful attitude and very professional work ethic"

Answers for restaurant, bar and facility managers
A machine that freezes but never harvests is usually dealing with heavy scale on the evaporator plate, a failed harvest assist or hot gas valve, a bad water level or thickness sensor, or a control board fault. Scale is the most common cause in the Treasure Valley because of our hard water. We check the freeze and harvest cycle before replacing any parts.
Cloudy ice usually points to high mineral content in the water or a filter that is overdue for a change. Thin or hollow cubes are more often a water supply problem (low pressure, a restricted inlet valve or clogged filter), a scaled water distribution tube, or a refrigeration issue such as a low refrigerant charge. The ice tells us where to start looking.
Most manufacturers call for a full cleaning and sanitizing at least every six months, and machines in bars, breweries and busy kitchens often need it more frequently. Yeast and flour in the air, poor ventilation and hard water all shorten the interval. If you can see slime or pink/black growth, it is already past due.
Brands we commonly service include Manitowoc, Hoshizaki, Scotsman and Ice-O-Matic, along with other cuber, nugget and flake machines found in commercial kitchens. Call us with the brand and model number and we will tell you up front whether it is something we can take care of.
In most of the Treasure Valley, yes. Local water is hard enough that unfiltered machines build scale quickly, which cuts production and leads to harvest problems. A properly sized filter with scale inhibitor, changed on schedule, is one of the cheapest ways to protect the machine. We can install, replace and size filtration for your unit.
It can be. Leaks are most often a clogged or disconnected drain line, a cracked water trough, a stuck water inlet valve or a bin drain that is backing up. Standing water near a floor drain or under shelving is a slip hazard and a health inspection issue, so shut off the water supply to the machine if the leak is steady and give us a call.
We answer 24/7. Tell us the brand, the model and what the machine is doing, and we will get a tech headed your way. For emergency calls we aim to have a technician on-site within 2 hours. Ask about adding ice machine cleaning to a commercial maintenance plan so it happens on schedule.
Response times can vary with location, weather and call volume.

"Tech that came out was quick and very knowledgeable in fixing our commercial freezer. Had another company that came out before them that thought they fixed and did not. I will use this company moving forward and you should too. They came all the way to Ontario oregon, and was quick in response."
